Mobile Passport Helps You Skip the Line When Returning to the US

Android/iOS: When you’re returning from an international trip, the process of going through customs is a drag. Mobile Passport, from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, now allows you to skip the line. At least at one airport.

The app comes from a company called Airside, but it’s officially recognized by the US government. It doesn’t replace your traditional paper passport, but it can save you some time in line. Simply enter the usual information and it will generate a QR code that can be scanned at a separate, presumably quicker line.

The catch for the moment is that it’s only being accepted at the Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta. Given that ATL is a large Delta hub, there are a good number of international flights that will likely return here, but the program does need to be expanded. However, if you’re planning an international flight any time soon, it’s worth checking out.
